UoNMSA Marks International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

The University of Nairobi, Mombasa Campus marked the 26/06/2020 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking through a webinar. To address and counter the drug problem and reaffirming its resolve, The Executive Director Reachout, Mr.Taib presented effective and holistic approaches needed to resolve the issue. Drug abuse is a complex problem at the intersection of public health, safety and social issues. Very interesting to hear that drug abuse cuts across ages, social status etc.

Prof. Stephen Kiama Installed as the 8th Vice Chancellor

Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi has officially been installed as the 8th Vice Chancellor of the great University of Nairobi at a colorful function held at the Taifa Hall in main campus and steamed online to a global audience, Prof. Kiama took oath office with a clear vision of what lay ahead in terms of spearheading the university to global academic and research excellence. The new VC pointed out that there is need to refresh management, administrative, oversight and governance structures.

Mombasa County Household Relief and Nutrition Support Project Donation

The University of Nairobi, Mombasa Campus staff and students, led by the Campus Director, Dr. Sarah Kinyanjui and the University of Nairobi Alumni Association, Mombasa Chapter Chairman, Mr. Mark Nyandiko handed over foodstuff and sanitary towels to H.E. Governor Joho in support of the Mombasa County Household Relief Project. The Campus remains cognisant that the war against COVID 19 requires individual and collective effort. Many thanks to all staff, students and UoN alumni who contributed in cash or kind.

Mental Health Under the Cloud of COVID-19

The current COVID-19 pandemic has exposed Kenyans to state-enforced public health protocols at odds with their daily schedules. These include quarantine, curfew and cessation of movement across specific counties, including Mombasa. Put together, the three answer to isolation and containment. Whereas quarantine separates and restricts movement of people who have potentially been exposed to a contagious disease in order to limit disease spread, curfews require people to remain indoors between specified hours.

County Government of Mombasa’s Emergency Household Relief & Nutrition Support Project.

The COVID-19 pandemic demands deliberate individual and collective responses not only to curb the rate of infections but also in addressing the resultant issues. In response, the County Government of Mombasa has set up an elaborate emergency household relief and nutrition support project.

Dean School of Business Visit Mombasa Campus

School of Business, Mombasa Campus staff members held a special meeting at the Campus Boardroom. Speaking at the  meeting, the Dean SOB, Prof. Jackson Maalu congratulated the staff members for their hard work and dedication in service delivery. The Dean asked the staff to maintain the spirit of hard work in order to achieve the school set goals and objectives.
